Mr. Frederick William Chesley Haines October 07, 1941 - March 07, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Campbell's Funeral Home Frederick William Chesley Haines age 63, of Amherst Shore passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma on Monday, March 7, 2005 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Frederick Haines Sr. and Janet (Fowler) (Haines) Lines. Fred worked in the accounting office at Robb Engineering for 19 years before moving to Parrsboro where he worked as Town Clerk for 2 years. In 1981 Fred moved back to Amherst where he worked for the Town of Amherst first as Director of Finance and then Town Clerk. Following his retirement he worked at Sears in Amherst until his illness. Fred was a member of the Amherst Rotary Club, serving as President for one year. He served as an auditor on the Board of Directors for the Northport Community Center where he also called bingo. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Amherst where he was a choir member and served on several boards and committees. Fred's gift of music allowed him to contribute to the community as a soloist for numerous weddings and funerals. He was a great fan of the Montreal Canadians, he loved collecting flags and had a passion for bird watching. Fred loved his family and enjoyed spending time on the beach with his grandchildren whom he adored. He is survived by his wife the former Judy Brown, one daughter Jennifer Haines (Joel Morton) of Amherst and one son Peter Haines (Trisha Manship) of Riverview, N.B., one sister Diane Haines of Amherst Shore, one half sister Gail Haines of Winnipeg, Manitoba, two granddaughters Madeline and Olivia and many nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by a daughter Melanie in infancy, one niece Tanya Olsen and one nephew Wade Olsen and his step father Art Lines. Cremation has taken place. At Fred's request there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. from First Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Byron Corkum and Rev. Danny Compton officiating. Family flowers only. Donations in Fred's memory may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Maggie's place or the charity of your choice.
