John "Jack" Thomas Greaves August 05, 1937 - March 09, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home * GREAVES……John Thomas “Jack”, age 67, of Brooklyn, Hants County, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at the Windsor Elms, Windsor. Born on August 5th, 1937, in Woodside, Halifax County, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late Hebert and Ruby Frances (Merlin) Greaves. Jack was a wonderful quiet man and was always trying to help people. He started his adult life in the Canadian Army, serving in Canada and Europe, and after discharge, he went to sea and worked for the Canadian Coast Guard, as a Ships Engineer, rising to the rank of Chief Engineer. He was with the Sea Rescue Department of the Canadian Coast Guard for over 20 years. Jack loved helping people who could not help themselves. He was a God fearing man and would talk to anyone who would listen to his views on religion. He had always said he was chosen to help spread God’s Holy word and loved doing so. Jack is survived by his wife, the former Pearl Rebecca MacDonald; daughter, Pamela at home; stepdaughter, Rosalind Hennigar, Brooklyn; son, Charles “Chuck”, Hantsport; granddaughters, Christina Tucker, Nicole Tremblay and Rebecca Lowe; grandsons, David Tucker, Kein Tucker, Mitchel Greaves, Corey Greaves and Brandon Tremblay; sisters, Ruth Lent, Joan Walsh, Dorothy Boutilier, Jean Grant, Elizabeth Ann Brown and Nancy Nickerson; brother, David Greaves; sister-in-law, Brenda MacDonald; brother-in-law, Leon (Lisa) Macdonald Jr. He was predeceased by his stepfather, John Grant. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 11th, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 12th, 2005, in the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, Payzant Drive, Windsor, with President Derek Howell officiating. Interment in St. George’s Cemetery, Upper Falmouth. Donations may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
