JEAN-ROGER MAHEU 1924-2005 The family announces with great sorrow his death at the Golden Manor on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at the age of 80 years. Loving husband of the late Alice Maheu (Nee Bockan) (predeceased in 1999) and dear father of Louise (husband Dr. Allan MacIvor) of Timmins. Grandfather, “Montreal Poppa” to Grant, Neil and Adam. Also survived by his sisters, Yolande of Montreal and Rachel (husband Bud Barton) of Black Creek, B.C. Predeceased by his parents, Gaston and Oliva Maheu (Nee Brunet) as well as his brother Lucien. Roger was born on August 13, 1924 in Montreal where he was married and raised his daughter. Roger was a proud member of the Canadian Army during World War II having served overseas. Upon returning, he worked for a brief time with his dad and brother at the Maple Leaf Flour Mills before joining the Montreal Police Force where he had a thirty year career as an instructor for motorized vehicles. In 1989 Roger and Alice moved to Timmins to be closer to their grandchildren and their daughter. At this time the family would like to thank Dr. Smith, nurses and staff of the Golden Manor for the excellent care provided to Dad and Grandpa. The family would also like to thank the staff at Nadeau’s Restaurant and the Esso Truck Stop who showed their concern when Dad was no longer able to go there. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held in Montreal this spring. Remembrance donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Golden Manor Palliative Care Unit would be greatly appreciated.
