Walter Walter Stanley Christmas Walt Christmas died peacefully at the KGH with his loving family surrounding him on Monday, January 17, 2005 at the age of 86. He was born in Kingston on April 21, 1918 to Stanley and Margaret Christmas. He is survived by his two sons, Gary (Gerry) and Rick Christmas and two daughters, Marion Bedore (Bud) and Sharon Lillis (Ken). Walt has 11 grandchildren; Todd, Sharon, Janet, Gary, Kimberly, Cheryl-Lyn, Walt, Gary, Peggy Ann, Jacquie and Scott, as well as his numerous g reat grandchildren. Additional survivors are his two sisters, Margaret Stone and Betty Campbell. Predeceased by his parents, his wife Dorothy, two daughters Marlene Pippy, Peggy Dalby and daughter-in-law Linda Christmas and his two brothers Gordon an d Carmen Christmas. Walt was raised and education in Kingston. He worked at various jobs, most notably at the Board of Works for the City of Kingston, where he ended his career, retiring in 1983, after working there for 25 years. Walt had many intere sts throughout his lifetime. The main one would be, of course, his family. He always enjoyed having his kids and grandkids around him. A close second would be his birds, racing pigeons and show birds, through which he met a lot of his friends, both l ocally and outside of Kingston. He often traveled as far as North Carolina to see some of the friends that he had made over the years. Walt really enjoyed carpentry, which he took up after he retired. Being a novice, he joined a group of seniors who were involved in a woodworking course at KCVI. He made beautiful tables, deacon benches, rocking horses and cradles. Another interest for Walt was playing cards, especially euchre. Up until he took sick in November, he was playing 3-4 times a week an d enjoyed it thoroughly. Family and friends gathered at James Reid Funeral Home. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Doug Henry on Thursday, January 20th, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers were his three grandsons, Walter Bedore, Todd Pippy, Scott Lillis, grandson-in-law Joe Guigue, son-in-law, Willoughby Pippy and nephew, Chris Barrett.
