MacELWAIN, BESSIE MILDRED Bessie Mildred (MacFarlane) MacElwain, widow of the late Eric MacElwain passed away March 11, 2005 at the Carleton Manor, Woodstock, NB, at the age of 91. Born December 17, 1913, Bessie was a daughter of the late Maude (Mooers) and Byron MacFarlane. She was the last surviving member of her family. She was a member of the Temperance Vale Baptist Church. Three children survive her: daughter Una (Ron) Blaney of Maple Ridge, NB; sons Dale of Woodstock, NB, John (Dot) of Temperance Vale, NB, daughter-in-law Janet of Woodstock, NB eight grandchildren: Carla (Shawn) Reid of Millville, NB, Mike (Shelley) MacElwain of Prince William, NB, Jeff Blaney of Grand Prairie, Alberta, David MacElwain of Toronto, Ontario, Darren MacElwain of Ripples, NB and his fiance Laurie McAllister, Peter MacElwain of Toronto, Ontario, Heidi Blaney of Fredericton, NB and Rachel MacElwain of Halifax, NS, three great granddaughters Maggie, Leanne and Natalie Reid, two sisters-in-law, Gladys MacFarlane and Francis MacFarlane, several nieces and nephews. Bessie's husband Eric predeceased her in April 2004. She was also predeceased by an infant daughter Mildred, sister Phyllis Munro and three brothers: Ronald MacFarlane, Wendell MacFarlane and Gordon MacFarlane. Bessie especially enjoyed her family visits of her grandchildren and great granddaughters. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville, NB from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service will be held at 2pm on Monday, March 14, at the Temperance Vale Baptist Church with Pastor David Carter officiating assited by Rev. Wayne Blinn. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be Ivan Bradley, Merlin Bradley, Robin Connor, John Deweyert, Byron MacFarlane, and Osborne Stairs. Donations in memory of Bessie may be made to Temperance Vale Baptist Church or Temperance Vale Baptist Cemetery.
