Ricky Vaughn Dowe October 21, 1957 - March 12, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Campbell's Funeral Home Ricky Vaughn Dowe age 47 of Amherst passed away unexpectedly on Saturday March 12, 2005 at home. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Vaughn (Duke) and Ruby (Tower) Dowe. Ricky graduated from the Military School of Intelligence and Security as a military police officer in Borden, Ontario where he received numerous honorary athletic awards and was later transferred to CFB Moncton, N.B. from which he received an honorary release. Following his release he joined the Amherst Police Force until he later formed his own janitorial business with his wife Colleen for many years. He was a member of the Christ Church, Amherst and also a past choir member. He was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge Alexandra # 87. In his younger years Ricky was a devoted member of the Amherst Minor Hockey Association and also a dedicated fan of the Amherst Junior Ramblers. Ricky was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan and he would never miss watching a game. In his spare time he enjoyed watching boxing with his dad, and following other sports. Ricky had a great love for animals especially his cats and dog. Ricky will be remembered by his kindness and his great sense of humor. He will be sadly missed by his many close friends and special buddies. Ricky is survived by his wife the former Colleen MacKinnon, one son Jordan and one daughter Sarah; two sisters Gloria (Val) Robichaud and Nancy Harrison both of Amherst; mother-in-law Betty Jardine (Nanny Hockey) of Amherst; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Robert (Bobby) Harrison and father-in-law Bill Jardine. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 2 p.m. from Christ Church, Amherst with The Rev. Glenn Eason officiating. Family flowers only.
