FOSTER, MARY LOUISE (YARRILL) - Of Quispamsis, peacefully on March 16, 2005 at Saint John Regional Hospital following a brief illness. She was in her 85th year. Born in Loughton, Essex, England on Aug. 5, 1920 to Herbert and Amelia Yarrill, Mary was six when her family emigrated to Canada and settled in Niagara Falls. She attended Stamford Collegiate where she was named "All Round Student" and Valedictorian. She obtained an Hon. B.A. in English at the University of Toronto and taught high school English in Ottawa for over 20 years. She also taught English to new Canadians. Following her retirement, she returned to Niagara Falls and resided there until 1999 when she moved to Quispamsis to live with her son John and his family. She was an active member of the University Women's Club and the local bridge club, and became the first woman member of the St. George's Society of Saint John. Throughout her life, Mary was known for her dry wit and her meticulous attention to proper English grammar. She had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh. She is survived by her sister, Stella Anthes of Niagara Falls, three children David Foster (Wilma) of Woodland Beach, Ann Lukits (Steve) of Kingston, and John Foster (Shelley) of Quispamsis, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her brother, Eric Yarrill of Lennoxville, P.Q. Arrangements entrusted to Castle Kings Chapel, 154 Hampton Rd., Rothesay, NB (849-1702). Visitation Friday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Memorial service scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Gondola Point, NB. Reception to follow.
