Herman Lester VERNER

VERNER, HERMAN LESTER - At the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 17, 2005, Herman Lester Verner of Mt. Pleasant Ave East passed away following a brief illness. Born in Saint John in 1928, Herman was the son of the late Ernest and Mertiece (Hamilton) Verner. A carpenter by trade, Herman was employed with the New Brunswick Housing Authority until his retirement. Herman had a great love of music and was an avid fiddle player, a passion he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Herman also enjoyed woodworking and loved working on many projects in his garage and around his home. His strong work ethic, keen sense of humour and generosity was an inspiration to his children and all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Marie (Guay), his sons, Albert (Betty) Verner of Quispamsis, Ken Verner (Marlene Scothorn) of Cape North N.S., Michael (Marilyn) Verner of Quispamsis and Gerry (Anne) Verner of Quispamsis; his daughters, Anne (Ron) Maloney of Quispamsis, Jean Finley (Hal Melvin) of Saint John, Linda (Jim) Magee of Saint John, Barbara (Greg) Williams of Argyle N.B., and Jennifer (Sean) Duplessis of Quispamsis; his brothers, Joseph Verner, John (Margaret) Verner, Thomas (Florence) Verner, Henry "Harry" Verner and David Verner all of Saint John, NB, four sisters Mertiece (John) Daly, Regina Porter (Al), Audrey (Dave) Hamilton and Edna (Fred) Sharkey, all of Saint John, NB., 28 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was pre- deceased by four brothers; Frederick Verner, Benjamin Verner, George Verner, Francis "Mickey" Verner, baby brother Richard, sisters Anne Brown, Nene Moyen-Settle and infant sister Jennie. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation Saturday 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and Sunday 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church (Bayside Drive) on Monday, March 21, 2005, at 12 noon. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
