BENT, REV. SONJA - 58, of Lantz, NS, formerly of Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, NS passed away on March 17, 2005 in Lantz. Born in Balk, The Netherlands, she was the daughter of Christina (Huisman) and Donald Pushie and the late Hank DeBoer. Sonja completed her Masters of Divinity at the Atlantic School of Theology. Sonja spent many happy years as a United Church minister in Hickman's Harbour on Random Island, NL. Her commitment to the church also included Sunday School, junior choir, youth group, bible study and week-end workshops. She was very active in the Lawrencetown United Church as well as Riverview United Church in Elmsdale. Sonja enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother, foster mother, wonderful grandmother and friend to all. She will be sadly missed by her loving children, Christie-Jo (Joe) LaRosa; Sharon (Dale) Shaw; Michelle (Bill) Euloth; Kim (Jason) Chesley and Melinda Bent; and her thirteen grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by siblings, John DeBoer, Andy DeBoer and Elizabeth DeBoer-Ashworth. She was predeceased by her loving son Jim and sister Audrey Postma. Memorial service will be 2PM Tuesday, March 22, 2005 in the Riverview United Church, Elmsdale, NS; Rev. Betty D'Arby officiating. A reception in the church hall will follow.
