Helen MacGregor Wilks (née Spencer) Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) WILKS (Spencer), Helen MacGregor - 79, Dartmouth, passed away March 17, 2005, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Helen was born in Great Village, a daughter of the late Horace and Emma (Vance) Spencer. She graduated from the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing in 1948 and worked at several hospitals, including over 20 years at the Stadacona Military Hospital in Halifax. Helen enjoyed bowling and playing bridge with her husband, Jim, and friends at the Brightwood Golf and Country Club, and she particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, James Cameron Wilks; her daughter, Judith Wilks, and her brother, James Spencer. Helen is survived by her son, David and wife Linda Park, Victoria, B.C.; daughter, Gail and husband Peter Mills and grandchildren, Alex and Heather, Halifax; son-in-law, Paul Carey and grandchildren, Emma and Sean, Ottawa, Ont.; sister, Annie McGeehan, Truro. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Stairs Memorial United Church, Hester Street, Dartmouth, on Wednesday, March 23, at 2 p.m., Rev. Sandra Carruthers officiating. Reception to follow in the church. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, Dartmouth
