BENOIT, William Francis "Frankie" - 79, Tracadie. We deeply regret to announce the sudden passing of William F. Benoit, on Tuesday, February 24, 2004, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born May 9, 1924, in Pomquet, he was a son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Deyoung) Benoit. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving in the Canadian Armed Forces (Canadian Infantry Corps). He retired from CNR in 1985 as a Roadmaster where he was a valued employee for 43 years. He served his parish as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Usher, Altar Server and was past president of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Tracadie and District Volunteer Fire Department, the Third Order of St. Augustine, Tracadie Beaver's Club, the Tracadie and District Veteran's Memorial Committee, the Benoit 2004 Reunion Committee and was on the Executive Committee of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 59. He was a member of the Happy Tracadonians Seniors Club. He was an avid card player who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Frankie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Jessie (Delorey); sons, Gerard (Linda), Lower Sackville; Joey (Carmel), Port Hawkesbury; Jamey (Glenda), Tracadie; Tommy (Eileen), Edmonton, Alta.; daughters, Patricia (Bill) Ripley, Shelburne; Lorraine (Frank) McKeough, Tracadie; Diane (John) Burrill, Fall River; Teri (George) White, Tracadie; Brenda (Daniel) White, Tracadie; Janice (Keith) DeCoste, Aulds Cove; Valerie (Deverne) Rushton, Londonderry; Barbara (Kevin) MacAskill, Aulds Cove; Michelle (Jonathan) Forrest, Dubai, U.A.E.; Joanne (David) Lindsay, Maple Ridge, B.C.; 39 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Delorey, Monk's Head; brother, Clarence (Tina), Sudbury, Ont. He was predeceased by brothers, Henry, Joe, Leonard; sister, Clara; grandson, Justin. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and Friday in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College St., Antigonish. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 28, in St. Peter's Church, Tracadie. Burial in St. Peter's Cemetery at a later date.
