KRETZ, Walther, Passed away peacefully on Friday, February 25, 2005 at Henley House Heath Centre in St. Catharines, in his 92nd year. He was born in Muir, Switzerland on October 7, 1923 to Conrad and Sophie Kretz and emigrated to Canada with his fam ily in 1923. Walther is the beloved husband of Mignonette (DeLuca) for 67 years and the loving father of Walter Jr. and Hanna, Lana and Don Caskenette, Peter and Pat. He was a wonderful grandfather to Brenda, Tracy, Mark, Natalie, the late Daniel, Al yson, Erin, Kelly, Andrew and great grandfather to Gavin, Katie, Ryan, Abbey, Ellie and Cora. Walther is the much loved brother of Ann, Aloise, Tony, Frank, Alphonse, Agnes, Bert, John, Theresa and their spouses, as well as the late Mary, John, Joe a nd Conrad Kretz.From the age of 13 to his retirement at 62, Walther worked at the Welland House Hotel, Mammys' Bread and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He was president of the Life Underwriters Association for several years. Walther was a veter an of WWII. He attended St. Alfred's Church. His love, respect and devotion to his wife Mignonette, his children and extensive family and friends was always evident in everything he said and did. Walther was a true gentleman. He will be greatly misse d by all who knew him. The family will greet all family and friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St. on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church at 272 Carlton St. on Monday at 9:30 a.m. Rite of committal will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil prayers will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Sincere thanks goes out to Walther's brothers and sisters who so faithfully v isited him, as well as all the staff at West Park and Henley House, who cared so well for Walther.
