McCULLOUGH, Mary (Joan), In her 66th year went home to be with the Lord on March 20, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. Cherished wife and best friend of Lyle McCullough for the past 42 years. Joan and Lyle made their home in Welland and t ogether raised two children, Christine Wiley and Kevin McCullough. Joan's devotion as a mother was extended to her beloved grandson Brandon Wiley. She is survived by her sister Linda Metsala, nephew Robert Metsala Jr. and grand-niece Shauni Metsala, cousins Florence and Douglas Damude and brothers-in-law Gordon and Keith McCullough of Barrie, Ontario. She was predeceased by her parents Kathleen and Harry Parker. She was employed with E.S. Fox Ltd. for 28 years which gave her many opportunities t o share her love of writing poetry at many company functions. Joan and Lyle enjoyed leading their seniors"The Rettreads" for the Rice Road Community Church for several years. Joan was also a member of this church. The family wish to thank Dr. P. Kund i and Dr. Brian Findlay (oncologist) for their constant care and to the dedicated Para-med nurses Kim Gatt and Joecelyn Molnar and also the nurses at the Welland Hospital who took good care of Joan while she was a patient there. Our heartfelt thanks to Pastor Bob Snider for his warm friendship, many visits, his encouraging words and prayers with Joan from the beginning of this journey to the end. Joan lived by an unshakable set of values and we are comforted by the many memories of her warm smil e, sense of humour and her quiet strength. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street, Welland, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from the Rice Road Community Church, 305 Rice Road, with Pastor Robert Snider officiating. Interment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens.
