MUNRO, Charles McKenzie, Born March 18, 1923, passed away suddenly at his home in Merritton on Thursday, March 24, 2005 after a long illness. Survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Betty (Cowan) Munro. Cherished Dad of Jack and Cindy. Dear Papa of Johann. Survived by his dear sister Joan Cowdy. Predeceased by brother John Munro (1983) and sister Catherine Kehoe (1989). Charlie was a WWII Veteran serving with the 6th Anti-Tank Regiment in Europe and he was a D-Day survivor. He worked at Genera l Motors as a maintenance supervisor working on the A and E Foundry Line retiring in 1979. At Charlie's request cremation has taken place. There will be a private inurnment at Lakeview Cemetery, Thorold. Charlie will be greatly missed for his devotio n to his family and will remain in their hearts. Because of Charlie's love of dogs, he wished donations in his memory to be made to the Lincoln County Humane Society, St. Catharines.
