SPARKS, Lorraine We are saddened to announce the loss of the wit, wisdom and companionship of Jenny Lorraine Rogers Sparks on Saturday, March 5, 2005. Best friend and love of Ivan (deceased), mother of Bill (Gail), Susan and John (Robin), sister-in-law of Vivian and Harry Turner, and loving grandmother of Wendy, Sean, Russell, Andrew, Graham, Caitlin and Mitchell. Lorraine will be missed by a worldwide legion of friends and "adopted" children of all ages. Born in Barrie, Ontario on August 2, 1923, Lorraine was an accomplished pianist who spent many summers with the Bingham relatives in her beloved Saskatchewan. She met Ivan and they married in June 1943, joking that the marriage excused her from writing her final Trig exam. Shortly afterwards, she joined the Sparks family in Ottawa and, in time, moved into "85" in Brantwood Park, where they made their home a place of joy, discourse and special moments for five decades. The family wishes to thank the many friends and caregivers who helped and comforted Lorraine in the final difficult months of her journey. Conversation, companionship and good stories were hallmarks of Lorraine's life, and on-going contact eased her final days. We plan a celebration of Lorraine's life in April, when the maple leaves and dandelions have returned to Marlowe and Glengarry. Details will appear in this space in the Ottawa Citizen. In the interim, friends wishing to mark Lorraine's passing may contribute to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Ottawa VON, The Hospice at May Court, or a charity of their choice. Published in the Ottawa Citizen from 3/7/2005 - 3/9/2005
