BOWMAN, Mary (May) (nee McAvoy) Peacefully at Forest Hill Nursing Home, Ottawa, on Thursday, March 10, 2005 in her 81st year. Dear wife of John G. Bowman for 58 years. Cherished mother of Diane Waloff (Gino Totti) of Ottawa, Nancy Fabian (Jeff) of Newmarket and Joanne Algie (John) of Ottawa. Loving grandmother of Katie Gibbons (Ryan), Paul and Alex Fabian, all of Newmarket, and Iain and Malcolm Algie, both of Ottawa. Sister of Ed McAvoy of Hamilton, Margaret Kerr of Vienna, Austria. Born and raised in Hamilton, May spent many years there, followed by retirement years cottaging in Huntsville, wintering in Florida and finally 7 years under health care in Ottawa. May was a Legal Secretary for a number of years in Hamilton. From 1980 until retirement, she worked as a Medical Secretary in the Rehab Division of Chedoke Hospital, Hamilton. Throughout her life, May enjoyed socializing with many dear friends in Hamilton and also at the Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida. Near and dear to her heart were the many happy outings with the "Kat Klub" ladies in Hamilton, ladies bridge groups in Hamilton, OxBow Lake and Venice, Florida, and the 9-hole ladies Golf Group in Florida. Always a strong lady who smiled and rarely complained in the face of adversity, she will be missed and remembered in our hearts. The family extends sincerest appreciation for the compassionate and dedicated care given by the wonderful staff at Forest Hill Nursing Home. Warm gratitude and thanks for their wonderful care and treatment are also extended to neurologist Dr. C. R. Skinner, speech pathologist Sally Lees, and physiotherapist Wendy Sarsons.
