Mary "Betty" Elizabeth Palmer January 20, 1932 - March 29, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Lower Sackville) PALMER, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" - Age 73, Bedford, formerly of Waverley, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 29, 2005. Born in Jacques River, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Delphus and Lena (Young) Guitard. During her many years in Waverley, Betty devoted numerous hours of her time to various charities including Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia and the United Way. She was an active member of St. John's Anglican Church. After moving to Bedford, she became a member of the Bedford Leisure Club, and a volunteer at Fultz House Museum. Her hobbies included bowling and serving on the Social Club at her condo building. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her only son, Dwayne (Lois), Ottawa, Ont.; daughters, Debi (Randy) Jones, Hammonds Plains; Linda (Donnie) Wilkinson, Campbell River, B.C.; Judy (Paul), Bedford; Holly (John) Bulley, Halifax; Margo (Gerald) MacKay, Prospect; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Alvin (Gloria), Gerald (Bev), and Donat; sister, Veronica Maxwell; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Thornton Palmer. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Thomas Anglican Church, Fall River, Rev. Michael Mitchell officiating, assisted by Rev. Arthur Nash. Reception to follow in the church hall. Burial at a later date in Brookside Cemetery. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society.
