I. Lillian Porter YARMOUTH, NS - I. Lillian Porter, 92, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday night, March 27, 2005, in Gentle Care Senior Care Home in Yarmouth. Formerly of Port Maitland, Yarmouth Co., Lillian was born at Sedro Wooley, Wash., USA. She was the daughter of the late Hanford D. and Iris L. (Harding) Chapman. She was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church, as church organist for many years. She was a member of the W.M.S. and treasurer. She served on the provincial executive of the U.B.W.M.U. and was a member of the Gideon's Ladies Auxiliary. After graduating from Horton Academy of Acadia University with a diploma in Business, she worked for a year in the bursar's office of the university, then for two years was a bookkeeper for Maritime Baptist. For many years she managed the bookkeeping for her husband's carpentry business. She entertained numerous people from the church and community, homemade ice cream being her specialty. Surviving are daughters, Bernice (Grafton) Outhouse, Tiverton, Iris Porter, Moncton, NB., Peggy (Jim) Rose, Port Maitland, Yarmouth Co.; son, Rev. Douglas (Ella) Porter, Pleasantville; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew; and grandson, David. The body is resting in Sweeny's Funeral Home in Yarmouth. Visiting hours will be Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth. The Funeral Service will be held at 2pm Thursday in Hebron Baptist Church, Rev. Wayne Johnson and Rev. Dale Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Hebron. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Gideon's Memorial Bible Fund.
