Robert "Roy" Pattie Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home After a valiant struggle with cancer, Roy passed away on Friday, April 1, 2005 at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 86. Roy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Dorene; children, David (Carol), Don and Shirley (Rick) Shewchuk; grandchildren, Shannon, Kimberley, Sheri and Joshua Pattie, Kaleigh and Ashleigh Shewchuk; brothers, Jack and Mitchell (Ruth); and sisters, Lena Brooks and Shirley Foot. Roy served in Second World War from 1941 to 1946, including the Battle of Normandy. He and Dorene married upon his return from overseas. Roy worked for the Hudsons Bay Company, Northern Stores in various places in Northern Canada. Roy and Dorene have resided in Winnipeg since 1970. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Palliative Care, Homecare and the Riverview Health Centre for the care given to Roy. Special thanks to Jennifer, who made his last days at home comfortable and to the many people from the Department of Veterans Affairs for their ongoing support. Roy will be laid to rest in a private family service at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
