John LeBlanc 1918 - 2005 TIMMINS, ON - It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, John LeBlanc at the Golden Manor Home for the Aged on Monday, April 4, 2005 at the age of 86 years. Dear husband of the late Gemma LeBlanc (nee Brunet) (2004). Dearest father of Jocelyne LeBlanc of Timmins, Andrée Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona, Allan LeBlanc of Leduc, Alberta of Timmins, Kenneth LeBlanc of Quebec City, John LeBlanc of St. George, Ontario, Robert LeBlanc of Toronto and the late Denis "Chicken" LeBlanc (March 14, 2004). Predeceased by an infant son, Joseph; an infant daughter, Marie and his parents, Dosite LeBlanc and Celeste (Gould) Doiron. Brother of Lionel LeBlanc, Alyson LeBlanc, Elizabeth Curwin, Donald Arsenault all of New Brunswick and Irene Richard of Oshawa. John was born on July 19, 1918 in Cape Bald, New Brunswick. He was a war veteran with the tank core, stationed in New Brunswick, Camp Borden as well as Val Cartier, Quebec where he met his wife Gemma. He then owned and operated bush camps near Amherst Nova Scotia where he employed many families. John was the first Union Organizer for the Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union Local 2995 for all of Northern Ontario and Quebec. John then worked with Abitibi Pulp & Paper near Thunder Bay where he worked as area supervisor until his retirement at the age of 64. He was a loyal and active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88 and an active volunteer worker with the NDP party. John and Gemma celebrated 60 years of marriage on April 17, 2004. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 9, 2005 from St. Joseph Church (formerly St-Sauveur), Fr. Maurice Magnan officiating. Remembrance donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88 or the Alzheimer's Society would be greatly appreciated.
