LAVOIE, Donald Lionel ---- The family announces with sorrow, his death in Sudbury, Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the age of 62 years. Son of the late Jean-Baptiste and of the late Emma (née Martel) Lavoie. Beloved husband of Judy Normand-Lavoie (née Kelly) of Sudbury. Loving father of Marc Lavoie (Pauline) of Bowmanville, Rickie Lavoie (Joanne), Rolly Lavoie both of Sudbury, Danny Lavoie (Céline) and Lee-Anne McCregor (Kevin) of Ottawa. Step father of Ryan Normand of Sudbury. Dear brother of Claudette Risko (Joe) of Espanola. Predeceased by his brother Aurel and by his sister Helene. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his 8 grandchildren and by his many nieces and nephews. Mr. Lavoie grew up and attended school in Hearst, then attended Mattawa High School then Scollard Hall in North Bay. He worked for Inco from 1960 to 1963 and then worked for C.P. Rails from where he retired after 27 years service. A volunteer for the Special Olympics, he was a great encouragement to the athletes and inspired them all. Donald was a great role model, he leaves a legacy of love, faith and fond memories of his wonderful sense of humour. In his leisure time, Donald enjoyed gardening, camping and in his younger years he worked as a guide in Northern Ontario. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends Friday, January 28, 2005 after 10:30 a.m. at the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 222 Lasalle Blvd. E. (at Notre-Dame), Sudbury. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be appreciated.
