Irene Dokken March 18, 1915 - April 12, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Peacefully, on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, Irene Dokken passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Irene was predeceased by her husband Arnold in 1988; sisters Jane, Mary and Martha; brothers George, Alfred, Thomas and Robert and grandson Timothy. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Floyd (Carol); daughters Margaret (Emil), Iris (Walter), Norma (Rod) and Pat (Ed); ten grandchildren, twelve great- grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; sisters Violet, Mildred, Phyllis and brother Clifford. Irene was born on March 18, 1915 in Piney, Manitoba and married her husband Arnold on December 13, 1933. They farmed in Piney until 1948, when they moved to Winnipeg, where mom was a very active and independent person. She always welcomed out of town visitors to her home and she loved to garden and quilting. Her cat Sam was her constant companion. A special thanks to Mary Smith for her companionship over the last few years, your kindness is greatly appreciated by the family. Memorial service for Irene will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 16, at the Weston Gospel Church, 1787 Logan Avenue. A reception will follow at the church. Irene will be laid to rest with her husband Arnold at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Irene to the Weston Gospel Church, 1787 Logan Avenue, Winnipeg, R3E 1S9, would be appreciated.
