OBITUARY EDWARD GARY ATKINSON 1949-2005 Gary passed away after a courageous fight with cancer at the age of fifty-six on April 16, 2005 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton, NB, with his family by his side. Gary was born in Montreal, Quebec on January 22, 1949. He attended Montreal West High School and also attained a Bachelor of Science degree at McGill University. Gary was a career biologist with the department of Fisheries and Oceans since 1967. His life long passion for music began as a choir boy at Trinity Memorial Church. He was also an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman. He was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. He is survived by his soul mate and wife of thirty-three years, Susan Enkel, his son Geoffrey (Kat), mother and father Pat and Ted of Sechelt, B.C., brothers Tim (Linda) of Gibson's, B.C., and Greg (Sharon) of Winnipeg, MB, mother-in-law Ethel Enkel and sister-in-law Cynthia Enkel-Fritz of Montreal, Quebec. He is also survived by an uncle and aunt and several nephews and cousins in Canada and the US and a host of friends. A celebration of his life will be conducted by Rev. Harold MacDonald at Ferguson and Knowles, 1657 Mountain Road Moncton, NB, Canada, on April 21, 2005 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the Oncology Centre at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital. Published in the Montreal Gazette on 4/18/2005
