RYAN, Martin Leo It is with great sorrow that we, the children of Martin Ryan, announce his sudden passing on April 18, 2005, five short weeks after the loss of our mother and dad's wife, Elizabeth. Martin was born in Cormac, Ontario on January 14, 1918 and raised on the family farm in Perth, Ontario. In 1941 he joined the Canadian Army. He first served as a mechanic and then as a tank operator with the Governor General's Horse Guard, which was a regiment of the 5th Division. Martin was a recent recipient of the Holland Medal, given to Canadian Army Vets who where involved with the Liberation of Holland. When released from the Army, Martin relocated to Schreiber where he was employed with C. P. Rail until his retirement in December of 1981. Martin met and then married Elizabeth (Antoniak) in August of 1953 and together they had four children. Left to mourn are children Bob (Jill), Mary Jo (Bill Gellert) and Colleen (Corey Fischer), grandchildren Reilly and Caitlin Ryan, Kaleigh and Steven Gellert and Denelle and Braden Fischer, sister Ann (William Ferguson) of Kingston, brother Philip (Celine) of Scarborough. Predeceased by his parents Daniel Ryan and Elizabeth (Roche), wife Elizabeth (March 12, 2005), daughter Elizabeth (in infancy), brothers Joseph, Terrance, James, sisters Mary, Barbara (Lee), Brigid (McNamee), sisters-in-law Gwen, Norma, Marion and brothers-in-law Arnold Lee and Joseph McNamee. Visitation will be held for Martin from 7:00 to 9:00 with Prayers beginning at 7:30 at the King Funeral home in Schreiber on Thursday, April 21st, 2005. A Resurrection Mass will be held at Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Friday April 22nd, 2005 with Interment to follow in Schreiber Cemetery.
