OBITUARY MARY CLARKE (nee STACEY) Born to Violet and Henry Stacey in Montreal in March 1920. Died Monday after a long illness at the Grace Dart Extended Care Facility. She is survived by sisters Winnifred and Margaret. Mary was also sister to George, Doris, Elizabeth and Marion. Beloved aunt of Brenda Lee and Johnny Matthews, Susan, Jimmy and Michael Kormylo; Thomas, Ronald and Linda Jayne Bachelder. Mary worked for most of her life for the then Northern Telecom: she was the original, modern, independent, post-war "career-woman" who worked all her life and followed her own path. After her father's early death, along with her siblings, she helped buy a house and provide for her mother at home for many years. Mary loved to travel and had many friends on the Cape Cod and Maine shorelines. She also was a wonderful Aunt (and Great Aunt), and nieces and nephews remember her for her great "Joie de Vivre": the Sunday meals, home-made blackcurrant jams, the Christmas Shopping trips, amazing presents and Bingo games! Who can forget the great treats she stocked for us kids; the open-face grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches, chocolate, drums of potato chips and soft drinks; the thoughtful gifts at birthdays, trips to Cape Cod? An Intrepid 35mm Photographer, she not only captured our youth on slides, but also subsequently treated us to many Sunday slideshows with her projection outfit. She was loved for her quick smile, twinkle in her eye and outspoken opinions. We will all miss you greatly, Auntie Mimi. A Visitation will take place beginning at 10 a.m., followed by a Service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 30, in the Mount Royal Chapel of the Mount Royal Funeral Complex: 1297 Chemin de la Foret, Outremont (279-6540).
