Montague "Monty" Harold Whitaker March 12, 1915 - April 21, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Montague Harold Whitaker C.L.U. "Monty" March 12, 1915 - April 21, 2005 Peacefully, on April 21, 2005 Monty passed away at Betel Home in Gimli, Manitoba at the age of 90. Monty was predeceased by his brother Ben Whitaker; sisters Helen Riddle and Edith Humphreys all of Vancouver. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Audrey; daughter Shirley (Irwin) of Winnipeg; brother Douglas (Jean) of Richmond B.C. Monty will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Monty was born in Portage La Prairie and came to Winnipeg as a young man, where he attended St. John's College School. He joined his father in the Insurance business with Stratton Whitaker Ltd. of Winnipeg. Monty served during World War two, after which moving to Regina to continue with the insurance business for the next 40 years. He retired to West Vancouver in 1985 where he resided until he recently returned to Manitoba. Monty enjoyed sports, especially lawn bowling and golfing. Monty had a quiet nature, he was well liked and always had a smile, whistle, or wave for anyone. The family would like to thank the staff at T5 Deer Lodge Center, and Betel Home in Gimli for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Monty's name may be made to the charity of choice. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday April 26, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave
