MACKINNON, WENDELL CHESLEY 1932-2005 The passing of Wendell Chesley MacKinnon of Silverwood (Fredericton) sadly took place on April 24, 2005. Born in Mt. Pleasant, Prince Edward Island, Wendell moved to Fredericton at a young age where he met and married his beloved wife of 52 years, Jean (Munn) and they raised their family, Michael (Lynn), Fredericton, Kim Hughes (Gary), Saint John, Deborah MacKinnon, Moncton and Heather MacNeil (late Stan MacNeil), Fredericton. He will be sadly missed by his eight grandchildren, Elspeth Lemon, Ryan MacKinnon, Hilary Lemon, Matthew MaNeil, Sean MacKinnon, Mikel MacNeil, Alenandra MacKinnon and Neil Hughes. He is also survived by four brothers, Robert (Audrey) Etobicoke, ON., Roger (Freda) Mississauga, ON., Malcolm (Cathy), Fredericton and Greg (Laurie) Three Hills, AB and eight sisters, Nettie MacKinnon, Shediac, NB, Melvina Vail (Malcolm) Quispamsis, NB, Susan Bowser (John) Beeton, ON., Sandra Dunham, Red Deer, AB, Catherine Carlisle (Burton) Fredericton, Connie Hobbs (Wade) Kempville, ON. Barbara Goodwin (Marshall) Fredericton and Brenda MacMillan (Rick) Ottawa, ON. and several special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ada Burtt (Yeo) and Edward and Catherine MacKinnon and sister, Ada Laraine. He will be missed by many longtime friends and neighbors. Wendell spent 50 years in the heavy equipment parts business, twenty-four of these with Barker Equipment Limited before establishing his own business - Wendell MacKinnon and Son Ltd. where he continued to work despite his illness. Wendell was a longtime member of the United Commercial travelers and a member of St. Paul's United Church, Fredericton. He was an avid camper and sportsman, winning a Provincial Horseshoe Championship in 1965 as well as being involved in many sports teams throughout his life, softball, hockey, and bowling. Although there will be no visitation. A Funeral service in celebration of Wendell's life will be held at St. Paul's United Church on Wednesday, April 27 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at Forest Hills Cemetery, Fredericton at a later date.
