He was born on February 28, 1942 in Fort Hope, Ontario where he lived in worked most of his life. Predeceased by his sister Harriet and brother Harry Slipperjack, his parents Matthew and Doris Slipperjack, and his grandparents Isaiah and Maria Ooshag with whom he rejoins in the afterlife. Survived by his friend Caroline Yesno, sons Michael, Matthew, Harry, daughters Shannon Jane and Doris and by his foster sons, Lewis and Ed Yesno. Daniel will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Robin, Tiffany, Chantal, Syndyn, Joey, Caitlyn, Odessa, Heather, and Jayden as well as by nephews, nieces, members of his extended family and numerous friends. He will be sorely missed for his tireless work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit and his quiet friendliness. Amongst his many joys, Daniel enjoyed the outdoors, not only when hunting and fishing, but also when sharing his bush craft knowledge with friends and family as was passed down to him. He in turn apprenticed many an outdoorsman. He was particularly proud to have apprenticed the dentist Mike “Hunter” Simpson in the bush arts and of whom he mentioned often in his recollections. He enjoyed story telling and it was not unknown for him to spin a yarn or two with some embellishment which served to increase the mood of those who listened. Described by a family friend as the “Original Prankster,” Danny loved the odd prank but most of all, he loved counselling by using past experiences and situations. A funeral service for Mr. Daniel Slipperjack will be held on Thursday December 22, 2005 at Jenkens Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. with visitation to be held one hour prior to service time. Interment to be held in Fort Hope, Ontario on December 24, 2005. The family would like to express great appreciation to the doctors and nurses and staff at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Oncology Ward and St. Joseph’s Palliative and Hospice, 4th Floor, for their kindness and care of our father, grandfather and friend. They are truly angels on earth. Kitchi miigwetch. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. JENKENS FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE
