Frank Walker June 24, 1926 - December 28, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Duncan) Frank died peacefully on December 28, 2005 at the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan. Frank was born on June 24, 1926 in Sheffield, Yorkshire to Connie and Albert Walker. His early life was spent in England, living and working near the hills and dales he loved. Here he held many jobs including that of gauge maker at the Admiralty. In 1963, he immigrated with his wife Beryl and young family to Honeymoon Bay where he worked at the local sawmill as a millwright and plant chairman. For many years he was very active in the local labour movement. After the mill closed in 1981, Frank continued his interest in public service as Regional Director for Area F, helping to reconstruct the community of Honeymoon Bay. Frank was always there when others needed help. Frank was a patient, understanding and loving husband, dad and grandpa whose warmth and wit shone thru to the end. Predeceased by his son John Francis (1980). He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 55 years Beryl, his daughter Sara (John) Middleton and children Adam and Jonathan; daughter Joanne (Burke) Rosen and children Elijah and Conor; son James (Nicole) Walker and children Brittany, Emily and Dawson; daughter Gillian (Les) Thibideau and children Adrian (Bell), Jordan (Bell), Nolan and Dawson. He will also be greatly missed by his brother Alec Walker, cousin David (June) Hayes and many other family and friends here and in England. A Memorial Service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC on January 3, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. followed by a reception in the Sands Arbor Reception Centre. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Frank’s memory may be made to the Canadian “Feed the Children” relief organization.
