Robert Thomas Preston September 02, 1928 - December 26, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Duncan) Passed away on December 26, 2005 in the Cowichan Lodge in Duncan at the age of 77. Predeceased by his wife Ruth, he is survived by his daughter Paula and son Robert, and 4 grandchildren. Also survived by sister-in-law Paula Dickie. Born in Vancouver, BC, Bob graduated from UBC with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He served for 37 years in the Canadian military in a wide variety of positions across Canada, Korea, and abroad – retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He took up a second career as a civilian engineer in National Defence H.Q. for a further 7 years. Resident of Arbutus Ridge since 1991 where he was actively involved in many organizations and volunteer groups. He was well respected within the community, and will be missed by his many friends. Bob will be remembered for his amazing memory, analytic mind and amusing stories. A remembrance gathering will be held in early February. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation (4-466 Trans-Canada Highway, Duncan BC V9L 3R6) would be appreciated.
