KENNY, Olive Evelyn (nee Cooke) Passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2005, at the age of 89 years, surrounded by her family. Daughter of the late John Cooke and Christina Ramus. Beloved wife of Professor Lorne Kenny. Dear mother of Eva (Kathy), Richard (Lyse) and John (Liz). Predeceased by sons Donnie and Robert. Grandmother to Clea (Andreas), Alexis, Marieke, Saskia and Melisande and great-grandmother to Auden. Sister to Mervin (Martha) and Lloyd (Elma). Predeceased by her brothers and sisters Bessie, Norman, Sterling, Milly and Alice. Olive lived an extraordinary life. At the age of 20, she traveled to Egypt, where she served in the mission field for many years. It was there that she met and married Lorne Kenny and began raising her family. Later in life she translated many works of Arabic literature, including those of Nobel Prize winning author, Naguib Mahfouz. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Tuesday, December 6th from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, December 7th after 11 a.m. until service time in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Reception to follow.
