Duncan Oliver SHAW

SHAW, Duncan Oliver CD Wing Commander (Ret) RCAF Number 1711 Born 18 Oct., 1912 in Toronto died peacefully in Ottawa 6 Dec., 2005, the last "Boy" airman of the Royal Canadian Air Force, having joined the RCAF in Apr. 1929 and retired Oct 1964 as a Wing Commander in the armament branch. He served overseas in WWII as chief armament officer of 6 Group and again with the occupation forces in Germany. After retiring he had a second career as co-owner and President of Carleton Instruments. Predeceased in 1998 by his wife of 58 years Marjorie Edith Shaw, nee Tripp, and in 1977 by his son Captain John (Runner) Shaw of 421 Squadron, 1 Canadian Air Group and in 2004 by John's wife Donna. Also predeceased by his sister Mima Larmour and brother Archibald "Buster" Shaw. Survived by sons Douglas (Maureen) and David (Carol) and five grandchildren, Sandra Minor (Chris), Kevin, Morgan (Jennifer), Robert (Karen), and Ian (Elaine) and 5 great-grandchildren Cameron Shaw, Caitlin Minor, Rachael Minor, James Shaw, and Ryan Shaw. Also survived by dear sisters-in-law, Mary Moore (Don), Gertrude Cunningham and Shirley Shaw. Also survived by his pals Beemer and Shiraz. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa on Saturday, December 10, 2005 from 10:30 am until service time in the chapel at 11:30 am.
