CHRISTIE, David O. David Christie passed away peacefully on December 19, 2005 at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre in Ottawa. Born in Richard Saskatchewan on December 12, 1912. David grew up on a farm, and like many of his generation volunteered for service in World War II. During training in Calgary, he met his wife Nancy whom he married in 1950. Nancy convinced him that Calgary was the place to live, and they made their home there for many years enjoying camping, fishing and spoiling their grandchildren. Nancy is now also resident at the Perley. Dave is also survived by his son Jim and wife Katie, grandchildren Stephen, Heather, Greg (Lamarre) and wife Meg, Coral (Lamarre), and his sister Roberta (Woodward) and husband Ray in Alberta, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews residing throughout Alberta and British Columbia. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre on Wednesday, December 28th at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Arthritis Society or the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Foundation. Many thanks to the staff at both the Perley and Orchard View Living Centre who cared for Dave throughout his long struggle. Published in the Ottawa Citizen from 12/21/2005 - 12/22/2005
