Jo-Ann Rhoda Warner October 28, 1958 - December 29, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Halifax) WARNER, Jo-Ann Rhoda - 47, beloved mother, daughter and sister, passed away suddenly due to complications of rheumatoid arthritis on December 29, 2005, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Jo-Ann was a graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and Dalhousie University. She taught art at Bridgewater Elementary School in the early 80's before taking a position of Art Teacher at the Nova Scotia School for the Blind and also Sir Frederick Fraser School for the Blind, before her rheumatoid arthritis forced her on disability. During her short life, Jo-Ann was a volunteer at Vestry House, Sunday school teacher at Fairview United Church and counselor at Camp Kidson. At 15, she won the Nova Scotia Tourism Award for her art. During her time at the school for the blind, she achieved the highest score on her Braille exam for a person with sight. Jo-Ann leaves behind her 15 year old daughter, Margaret "Maggie"; parents, Gordon and Noreen Warner; sisters, Karen (Lindsay) Zwicker, Gail Warner and partner Carl Webb; brother, Gordon (Debbie) Warner; nephew, Frank Zwicker; and many uncles, aunts and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandparents. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, with visiting 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, and funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, Rev. Heather Hemming officiating. Reception to follow the service in Atlantic Funeral Home. Interment in Oakridge Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jo-Ann's memory to The Arthritis Society.
