Walter E. DeWare Walter E. DeWare 86, of Moncton, surrounded by his loving family passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Monday November 17, 2003. Born in Waasis, son of the late Roy and Isla (Grass) DeWare. Walter was Founder, Owner and Operator of DeWare's Service Station from 1938 until his retirement, and continued his daily visits until one week ago. He was an avid sports fan with a keen interest in Harness Racing, he had been a Part Owner with his brothers Earl and Harold of one of the Maritimes most successful Racing Stables during the 1960's and 1970's. He was a charter member of the HumLew-Sun Lions Club. Walter will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen (Kay) (Masters): daughters, Betty Audain (Owen), Moncton, Karen Mason (Courtney), Fredericton; sons, Wayne (Linda), Brian (Jeannine), Jim (Louise), Moncton: grandchildren, Patti Doiron-Hicks (Glenn), Stacey Draper (Russell), Jody Steen (Kevin), Alissa, Natalie, Tanya and Jillian DeWare, Trevor and Jeffrey Mason, Walter James (Jimmy) John DeWare, Chrystal DeWare: great granddaughter Grace Draper: sisters, Grace Mutch, Lyttleton, Evelyn Wadman (John), Phyllis Melanson (Ned), Lois Maxner (Berwick), Olive Cameron (Gerald), Moncton, Marion Klein (Jayme), Halifax: brothers, Kenneth (Laura), Paul (Leonise), Dale (Rose), Randy (Sheila), Moncton: sisters-in-law, Mildred DeWare, Garda DeWare, Pat Carter (Harold), Moncton: Audrey Gagne (Marcel), Montreal; brothers-in-law, Harry and Bob Masters, Moncton; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughter, Carolyn: sisters, Anna, Hilda, Ethel: brothers; Earl, Harold, Donald: stepmother Irene (Cole) DeWare. Walter often spoke of one of his greatest accomplishments as that of raising a good family whom he cherished and often spoke proudly of them at every family gathering. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton Wednesday 2 to 4, 7 to 9. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel Thursday November 20, 2003, 1:30pm. Rev. Ron Maund officiating. Reception following the Service. Interment, Fair Haven Cemetery.
