The death of Frederick (Fred) Steven Lumsden, husband of Patricia Lumsden, of Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home and formerly of Hilltop, NB, occurred on Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home at the age of 75. Born in Hilltop, NB, he was the son of the late Matthew and Mary (Cable) Lumsden. Fred was a self-employed woodsman. Fred is survived by: one daughter: Mary Jane at home; one son: Steven Thomas of Hilltop, NB; three sister: Anna Chapman of CI Road, NB; Irene Jardine (Harold) of Maple Glen, NB; Stella Lefurgey (Andrew) of Hilltop, NB; one brother: Danny of CI Road, NB; four grandchildren: Samantha, Topanga, Torrie and John and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife: Patricia. Fred is predeceased by: one daughter: Patricia Anne and brothers: John and Jimmy. The family received visitors at Bell's Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service was held from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Thursday at 1 PM with Rev. Dr. Diane Juckes officiating. Prelude and Postlude by: organist/soloist: Jacqueline Allain. Solo's: "Daddy's Hands" and "There You'll Be" by: Ann Marie Daigle. Eulogy was given by: Harry Miller. Honorary Pallbearers were: Barry and Terry Mullin. Active Pallbearers were: Craig Vienneau, Cory Lefurgey, Donnie Matchett, David Chapman, Bobby Williston and Lloyd Matchett. Burial will take place in the Wesley United Church Cemetery later in the spring. In Fred's memory, donations may be made to the IWK Children's Hospital or to a memorial of one's choice.
