MELVIN (MEL) LEO LAVALLEE Suddenly on Friday, April 5, 2003 at his residence, Melvin Leo Lavallee of St. Ambroise, beloved husband of Rose Lavallee passed at the age of 60 years. Prayers will be held in the St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church, St. Ambroise, MB, prior to the service. Funeral service will be held in the St. Ambroise Church on Friday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Wayne Morrissey officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church yard cemetery. Mel was born on October 20, 1942 at Portage la Prairie, son of Alma and Leon Lavallee. He was raised and received his education at St. Ambroise, MB. He then moved to British Columbia where he worked at Al Can for a short time. He then returned to St. Ambroise in 1967 where he married Rose Stimpson, and there he drove a gravel truck for four years. In 1973 he began working for the Brandon Seal Coat Crew of the Department of Highways where he worked until his retirement in 2002 due to illness. Melvin enjoyed mechanical work. He loved fishing, recording movies and he loved music. Family was a most important part of his life. He loved his pet dogs, Ben and Daisy. Predeceased by his mother, Alma in 2002 and one son, Sammy Melvin Jr. in 1969. He leaves to mourn his passing his father Leon; wife Rose; one son Darrin (Darlene) of Winnipeg; one daughter Dianne (Harry) Ten-Brink of Portage la Prairie; two step-grandsons, Brock and Brodie and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Friends may call at the Omega Funeral Home for visitation on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8 or the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
