John Alfred Lorne ARCAND

John Arcand, 64 John Alfred Lorne "Jack" Arcand died at Kingston General Hospital on May 2, 2006 at the age of 64. He was born in Prescott on Jan. 31, 1942 to parents Lorne and Geraldine Arcand. He married Theresa Arcand (nee Beaudoin) in Spencerville on June 6, 1964. Mr. Arcand sailed with the Canadian Coast Guard for 18 years and then did maintenance work for the Catholic school board for 23 years. His interests included woodworking, fishing and sports. He coached local hockey and baseball and enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He is survived by his mother, wife, children Paul (Cathy) Arcand of Prescott, Lisa (Peter Hoy) of Syracuse, N.Y. and Shelley (Ivo Malovic) of Brockville, grandchildren Kelly and Jonathon Arcand, Brister, Brooke and Brett Malovic and Madison Hoy, sister Marion (Pete Brugsman), brothers David (Anne) Arcand and Ambrose (Janet) Arcand and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and his infant son, Joseph Lawrence. Visitation took place at the Chris Slater Funeral Home, Prescott, on May 4. Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Mark's Catholic Church on May 5. Father J. Appelman officiated. The pallbearers were Jeff Arcand, Richard Beaudoin, Brian McMahon, Duane McMahon, Robert Gilmour and Sean Coligan. Mr. Arcand was cremated. Donations are being directed to the KGH Stem Cell Transplant Research Fund, Kingston Regional Cancer Centre, 25 King St. W., Kingston ON, K7L 5P9.
