SAKOWSKI, Anthony "Tony" Joseph John - At the age of 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2004 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. With his family by his side. Beloved husband of the late Lois Sakowski (January 24, 2003) for 57 years. Loving father of John, Niagara Falls, Ken, Welland, Susan (Ron Herkimer), Niagara Falls and Tom, Welland. Cherished grandfather of Jason Sakowski, Woodstock, Karen Sakowski (John Occhialini), Port Colborne, Elisha Sakowski (Vince Vanvessem), and Bryan Sakowski, all of Niagara Falls. Dear brother of Helen Campbell, Niagara Falls, Carole Smith (Bob), Dunnville, brother of Fred (Peggy) Sakowski, Cape Coral, Florida. Brother-in-law of Pat Fisher, Welland, Mary Stewart, St. Catharines, Marjorie Grice, Niagara Falls. Donna Reynolds (Jack), Menlo Park, California, Bill Osborne (Nina), New Brunswick, Anne Kneeshaw (Paul), Kitchener, Ellen Wauk (Morris), Niagara Falls. Tony was a longtime member of Chippawa Presbyterian where he taught Sunday School, Scouts and was a retired Elder of the church. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 479. Tony served as a cook in the Royal Canadian Navy from March 1942 until July 1956. The Sakowski family will receive friends at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel; 5176 Victoria Ave., on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, May 6, 2004 at 11 o'clock a.m. Interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
