JOHNSTON, Lois Marie At Alta Vista Manor, Ottawa on Wednesday, September 20th, 2006 in her 76th year following a battle with cancer. Lois was born June 27th, 1931 the oldest child of the late Fred and Jean Johnston of the Belfast area, Lucknow, Ontario. She is survived by 1 sister Freeda Bailey of London, Ontario, brothers Floyd (Geraldine) Johnston of Kincardine, Ontario, Bob (Marilyn) Johnston of Ripley, Ontario as well as nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Allan and brother-in-law Brian Bailey. Lois began her secretarial career at "Silverwoods Company" in London, Ontario where she was employed for 14 years. She then served with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Ottawa. During that time, she had been "posted" to a number of foreign countries. Lois retired in 1995 completing 30 years of service with the government. During her retirement years, Lois enjoyed travelling and became involved with many organizations including the MacDonald Club, the English Speaking Union, Canadian Club and The "Lois" Club. She also was a well-known supporter of many "arts" groups especially the National Arts Centre. In May 2006, Lois celebrated her 50th anniversary with the International Association of Administrative Professionals. The Johnston family wish to thank the many friends who have been associated with Lois through the years and especially those who have supported her during the past few months. It is greatly appreciated. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Tuesday, September 26th, 2006 from 2-4 p.m. A Funeral Service at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow, Ontario will take place at a later date with burial at Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.
