RAMSAY, BERNETTA MARY (DORAN) - Mrs. Bernetta (Nettie) Ramsay, of Chatham Head, Miramichi, formerly of Warwick Road, passed away at the Moncton City Hospital on Wednesday, December 27th, 2006. Born in Millerton, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Close) Doran. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a homemaker and attended St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Red Bank. She loved to travel in the winter and her family considers her one of the snow birds. Bernetta is survived by three daughters, Genevieve Tozer (Herb) of Saint John, Mary Ross of Saint John and Florence McGraw (John) of Chatham Head, Miramichi; two sons, Mervin Jr. (Marie) of Saint John and William (Billy) of Miramichi; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Mervin, she was predeceased by one daughter, Theresa; two sisters, Veronica Doran and Genevieve Hachey; four brothers, Carl, Joseph, Isaac, and Charlie and one grandson, John Ross. The family received relatives and friends at Northumberland Funeral Home on Thursday, December 28, 2006 from 7 to 9pm and on Friday December 29th, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 11am at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Red Bank at 11am with Father Dan Melanson officiating. Organist Lynn Manderson accompanied the church choir in the singing of the hymns 'Here I am Lord', 'Be Not Afraid', 'Songs of the Angels', 'The Lord is my Shepherd' and 'Peace Is Flowing like a River'. Soloist Kevin Hubbard sang 'Ave Maria'. Readers were Theresa Williams, Guylaine Williams and Linda Jean Sutton. Active pallbearers were Gerald Robichaud, Mervin Ramsay, Leonard Brideau, Tony Sutton, Kyle Ross Barter and Robert Davidson. Honorary pallbearers were William Ramsay, Mary Ross, Herb and Genevieve Tozer, John and Florence McGraw, Edward Williams, Katherine Jardine, Tracey Clark. Twila Jardine, Guylaine Williams, Theresa Williams, Wanda Williams and Bernetta Ramsay. Burial will be later in the spring.
