Yvonne (née Lambert ) Levasseur, 72, of Alexandra St. was held Jan. 5, 2007. She died Dec. 31 at Notre-Dame Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born March 25, 1934 in Opasatika, she was an amiable, helpful, big-hearted person who enjoyed sewing, making blankets and crafts, passing time with family, gardening, and nature, and painting wildlife and flowers. She worked for many years at such downtown restaurants as King’s Café and former Moonlite Grill and Lucky Garden eateries. Predeceased by her parents, husband Donat Levasseur in the early 1990s and a sister Alberte Roy, she leaves her daughter Suzanne (Guy) Béchard of Hearst, and sons Fernand (commonly known by nickname ‘Mushroom’) and Léo (Suzanne), all of Hearst, and Gérald (Sharlene) Levasseur of Sudbury. Also surviving are her sisters Rose Jalbert and Rita (Laurent) Lauzon, all of Timmins, Jeannine (Guy) Baillargeon of Hemlo, and Marguerite Lambert of Macamic, Qué,,and a brother Claude (Lola) Lambert of Timmins, as well as four granddaughters and four grandsons. Cremation preceded the service directed by Rev. Rémi Lessard at Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Cathedral. Interment will take place this spring at Monsignor Pierre Grenier Cemetery. Commemorative donations may be made to the hospital palliative care wing.
