PAQUET, Raymond E. (August 30, 1924 - January 29, 2007) — Raymond passed away into the realm of angels January 29 in Thornhill, Ontario. He was the son of Albert Paquet and the late Clara Mountain. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Mary (Miep Nieberg) formerly of Den Haag, Holland; and his two sons, Ronald (Herma) of Den Haag, Holland, and Desmond (Ann) of Newmarket, Ontario; his adoring grandchildren, Pamela and Randy, and his great grandchildren, Justin and Ryan; he also leaves to mourn his brothers, Desmond (Sandra Turner) of London, Ontario, Albert (deceased), Philip of Toronto, Ontario, and his sister Isabel Marie (John McLaughlin) of Lennoxville, QC. Raymond grew up in Quebec City where he attended St. Patrick’s High School and where he studied painting at the École des Beaux Arts. He then served in the 2nd world war with the Hamilton Light Infantry, acting as a dispatcher and telegraphist. While serving in Holland, he met his beloved Dutch wife, Miep. Together they traveled the world and joined the snowbirds in Florida every winter. Raymond was a one-of-a kind, joix-de-vivre fellow, the life of the party, and a prolific artist in his own right, having had his own art studio, Paquet’s Palette, on Yonge street in Toronto, for a number of years. However, he always looked forward to his yearly visit to his hometown. Raymond will be sorely missed by all who knew him. His ashes will be brought back to Holland at a later date, from where his journey through life with his beloved Miep began some sixty years ago.
