OBITUARY JAN FRANCOIS BECKMAN CMA, ACIS, PADM Born July 1, 1927, Bandoeng, N.O.I., died courageously on March 23, 2007, Pointe-Claire, Canada. Devoted family man, he leaves behind his wife Jantje Beckman, his children Karel (Jackie), Martin (Stephanie), Elianna and Suzanne (Sander), his grandchildren, Anthony, Christopher, Katrina, Liette, Janelle, Kara-Lynn, Rutger, Laurent and Kendrik, and his brothers Hans (Noemi) and Rob. Having participated in the resistance during the occupation of the Netherlands and subsequently as a Netherlands Royal Army artillery officer in the re-establishment of order after the Japanese surrender, he was entitled to wear the Resistance Commemorative cross, the medal for Order and Peace with bars of 1947, '48 and '49, as well as the cross for 15 years service as an officer. He also served with the Netherlands Royal Air Force as a Navigator-air defense controller from 1950 to 1954 after which he emigrated to Canada. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007, 14:00h at Beaurepaire United Church, 25 Fieldfare ave., Beaconsfield. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
