Diane James, 61 of RR 2, Addison, died February 12 at Brockville General Hospital's Charles Street site after an illness. She was born Margaret Diane Astleford on March 3, 1945 in Brockville. Her parents, Horton Astleford and the former Marion Wood, survive their daughter and live at RR 2, Addison. Diane grew up in Addison and attended Maude's School and then Brockville Collegiate Institute. She married Carl David James on July 24, 1965 and worked as a clerk at Kern's Jewelry from 1965 to 1970, when she started raising her family. Her hobbies included knitting, crochet, her dog Muffin and reading. Her main interests were her home and family. Besides her parents, Mrs. James is survived by her husband and her son Terry Andrew James, both of RR 2, Addison; five Astleford brothers, James and wife Sherian of Jellyby, Robert and wife Sherrie of the United States, Wayne and wife Rita of Athens, Ralph and wife Linda of Brockville and Ron and wife Anne of Addison; two sisters, Linda Sabourin and husband Peter of Prescott and Ann Astleford of Algonquin; and sister-in-law Sandra Haffie of Mallorytown. She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Horton Astleford. A private family gathering was held February 15 at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, Brockville, with Rev. June Craig officiating. Cremation followed and burial will be at New Dublin Cemetery in the spring.
