Doris HARPER

Doris Lapierre, 86 Doris Lapierre, 86, died peacefully February 3 at Brockville General Hospital's Garden Street site with her family at her side. She was born in Brockville December 11, 1920 to David Edgar Harper and the former Fanny Jane Kingston. She was raised and educated in Brockville and on June 26, 1940 married James Wilbert Lapierre of Morrisburg. She worked at Orient Hosiery, the Stetson hat factory, the cafeteria of Automatic Electric and the housekeeping department of Brockville Psychiatric Hospital until her retirement in 1985. Her main interests were spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. She enjoyed family picnics, Zellers coffee club, country music, shopping, sewing, crocheting, knitting and other crafts. She was also an avid Elvis fan. Mrs. Lapierre is survived by her three daughters, Sheila VandePol and husband Alex of Algonquin, Bonnie Bellemore of Brockville and Lori Gauthier and husband Rob of Lyn; six grandchildren, Patti McNamee, Marla Heffernan, Jamie and Lonnie Bellemore and Jordan and Christopher Gauthier; two stepgrandchildren, Jeffrey and Todd VandePol, and 12 great-grandchildren, Danielle, Casey, Riley, Ashley, Phillip, Jonathan, Cole, Natasha, Taylor, Taya, Hayley and Brendan. Also surviving are two sisters, Violet Smith and Geraldine Ryan, both of Brockville, several nieces and nephews, and two sons-in-law, Glenn McNamee and Laurence Bellemore. She was predeceased by her husband James Lapierre on January 9, 1972, her father David Harper in 1954, her mother Fanny Harper on January 9, 1965, brothers Samuel, Lawrence and John Harper and sisters Pearl Sorensen, Myrtle Pryer, Olive English and Thelma and Helen Harper. Friends called at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, Brockville, where on February 7 the funeral was held, with Rev. Dr. Alan Bennett (retired, Wall Street United Church) officiating. A tribute poem written by daughter Bonnie Bellemore was read by niece Sharon Comeau. Burial was at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The pallbearers were grandsons Jamie and Lonnie Bellemore, grandson-in-law Heath Heffernan and nephews George Harper, Roger Sorensen and Larry Harper.
