Mr. James A. Gregan 1914 - 2004 MIRAMICHI, NB - Mr. James Alden Gregan, husband of the late Merle Gregan, of the Bay du Vin Haven, and formerly of Hardwicke, passed away at The Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Saturday, August 28, 2004, at the age of 89. Born in Hardwicke, he was the son of the late Lessey and Mary (Murdoch) Gregan. He was a fisherman by occupation and a lifetime and active member of Myers United Church, in Hardwicke as well as a caretaker of that church. He was a Veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the 6th Field Battery R.C.A., in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was a member of Branch #3, Royal Canadian Legion, Miramichi. He is survived by one daughter, Jean Williston (Theodore) of Hardwicke; three sons, Donald Gregan (Carol) of Charlo, Douglas Gregan (Cheryl) of Hamilton, ON, and Rev. Ivan Gregan (Thelma) of Dartmouth, NS; one very special niece, Doreen Hopkins of Hamilton, ON; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Merle; three sisters, Margaret Chapman, Grace Carroll and Anne Potter; three brothers, George, Allan and Charles Gregan. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Visiting will be held at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King Street, on Sunday evening, from 7 to 9 pm, and Monday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from St. Stephens United Church, Black River Bridge, on Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. David Cleveland. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery. Please note, members of Branch #3, Royal Canadian Legion, are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Monday evening at 7:30 pm, for a Veterans service. As expressions of sympathy, in New Brunswick, donations to the Myers United Church, Hardwicke or in Nova Scotia, to the Port Wallis United Church, Building Fund, would be appreciated by the family.
