Dr John Brian McGugan - age 54, departed this life, May 3, 2007, knowing himself beloved of his wife Peggy (Margaret Eberhard) and their children Maggie, Gibb and Ewan. Brian continues the cherished son of John and Irene McGugan of Penetanguishene formerly London, and only McGugan brother to Sandra and Don Smith of Brampton, Linda Stone of London, Carol and Richard Denise of Midland and Laura McGugan of Elmvale. He is revered also by Eberhard brothers and sisters Stuart and Jeannette, John and Frances, and Jane. The many nieces and nephews, grown and tiny, who have brightened his life and made him proud will miss his quiet warmth. Brian's life is celebrated by his trusted helpmate in medical practice, Judi Fairwell; travel pals; Friday night friends; the medical community; the legals; neighbours; condo and casserole makers; the White Bear community in Temagami; the fishermen; the basketball guys; the golfers; all the kids in our basement; bleacher parents; the musicians; the painters; his many dear patients; and all those who have prayed for his needs whether on their own or as part of the St. Paul's church family. In his dying, his life's work is validated by the returned care of his broad healthcare team: by Drs. Gryffe, Kim, Waddell, Knox and the Oncology staff at PMH and Mount Sinai hospitals whose skill assisted him to prolong his life for added years; and to those many in Orillia including OSMH nurses, staff and Drs. Reid, Desai, Bhatt, Toye, Swanson, Hillson, Ngo, Price-Jones, Rosati, so many others and especially Dr. Reinders, in whose wisdom he placed his confidence and who cared for him as Brian cared for others in his time. A memorial celebration of life will be held Sunday 3 pm at St. Paul's United Church and a visitation Saturday 2-5pm at the Mundell Funeral Home.
