BATESON, Walter John (RCAF Camp Borden, Class of 1937) In his 89th year, died peacefully at home, Thursday, July 5, 2007. Born Montaque, N.S. and went to school in Dartmouth. He went overseas with the First Canadian Airforce Squadron in February 1940. Devoted and loving husband of 65 years to Ella (Catherine Isobel Rennie). Loving father to Shirley Routliffe (Susan), Walter (Audrey) and Lynda Diepold (Jack). Will be missed by sisters Dora Bateson, Rhodena Burley and Carmen Lee. Fondly remembered by his 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Much appreciation to Dr. David Kalin, to the nurses on 5A at the Ottawa Civic and to the Hospital Palliative Care Team. Special thanks to the entire staff at Park Place Retirement Residence and to the private nursing staff for making his last days comfortable and for supporting his family. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Outreach Centre 507 at 507 Bank St., Ottawa, K2P 1Z5 would be appreciated.
