de JONG, Shirley Alma (nee Dillman) - Very peacefully with her family at her side, at the K-W Grand River Hospital on Friday, June 8, 2007 in her 76th year, Shirley de Jong (of Kitchener), dearly loved wife of the late Dirk de Jong (2001). Loving mother of Cindy Thistle (Chad) and the late David de Jong. Shirley was the beloved big sister to Bob (Audrey), Carol (Matt), Joan (Gerritt), Barb (Fred), Ruth (Joe), Cathy (Norm) and predeceased by John (Michelle), Elsie (Bob), Mary (Keith). Shirley will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Shirley loved life; she found great pleasure in such simple things like feeding the birds, making meals for her family and walking to the neighbourhood shopping mall. You could always count on her for a kind word and a pleasant smile. She was a sweet generous woman whose gentle presence will be greatly missed. Shirley will be remembered most for her passion for music; her special clap and tapping toes are forever etched in the memories of those who loved her. A private family service will be held on Wednesday. Memorial donations to the charity of your choice is gratefully acknowledge by the family.
